A.C.E. AWARD CRITERIA
The A.C.E. Award recognizes high school seniors who have made a dramatic change in their attitude and academic performance. The A.C.E. Award provides an opportunity to recognize students who have redirected their lives. A.C.E. embodies Exchange Clubs’ promise to empower and inspire youth to achieve and embrace the basic values of our society.
Must be eligible for high school graduation
Must have overcome significant barriers to graduation
Must submit the forms provided and include required attachments.
Evaluation will be:
25% Student Narratives (2)
25% Academic Improvement &/or Contributions
A committee will review the applications and select a student for recognition at the club level. The student and two adults will be invited to lunch in March or April 2016, to receive recognition and a $1,000 award.
The nominee recognized as the Dayton Exchange Club’s A.C.E. Award honoree will be further nominated for the Ohio-West Virginia District Exchange Clubs’ A.C.E. Award program. If the candidate is selected at the District level he or she would be invited to attend an awards presentation to be held at a luncheon on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 at The Hope Hotel and would receive a $1,000 scholarship. The honoree and no more than two guests will be hosted by Exchange for this event. The nominee recognized as the Ohio-West Virginia District A.C.E. Award winner would be submitted for further consideration by the National Exchange Club A.C.E. Award recognition program. The National A.C.E. Award winner will receive a grant of $10,000 (in two yearly installments given to the school of choice).
NOTE: In order to be a winner at the National Exchange Club level, the nominee must be able to accept the award in person at the National Convention; Norfolk Sheraton, July 17-20, 2019. Travel and accommodations will be provided to the honoree and not more than two accompanying chaperones.

Notification of those to be recognized will be made to the sponsoring institution/nominator and the student by April 1. The winner and his/her selected guests will be asked to attend this year’s award luncheon at a club meeting in March or April.

Academic History – Include a grade transcript and a listing of the courses taken. Scholastic improvement trends are included to help evaluate overall self-improvements.

One letter of recommendation from the school counselor (not to exceed 500 words) must be submitted. Additional letters (250 words or less) may be submitted. The letters should indicate the reasons for the nomination for this award and implications for the future. These may include a candid description of the obstacles involved, the student’s character, motivation, community and school involvement, and any other relevant background information. Candidate must provide high school transcript or GED result.
Note: Candidate must be able to accept the award in person at a Thursday luncheon in April. To qualify for District and National awards, the candidate must be available for recognition dates.
